College Football Top Betting Picks & Predictions for Saturday, September 7

Week 2 of the college football season delivers two matchups between ranked teams.

NC State takes on Tennessee and Michigan hosts Texas.

We have three best bets for the Saturday slate, including Texas at Michigan, Middle Tennessee at Ole Miss and Bowling Green at Penn State

Michigan vs. Texas

Texas was expected to win over Colorado State last week. But the way they did it was not expected. The Longhorns beat Rams 52-0, and quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 20 of 27 passes for 260 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. In his first game with the team, wide receiver Isaiah Bond looked phenomenal, displaying elite-level separation. He caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

The Texas’ defense held the Rams to just 74 passing yards. The Rams were 17th in passing yards per game in 2023, averaging over 291 passing.

Now, they head out on the road against Michigan. The Wolverines are coming off a 30-10 win over Fresno State. Davis Warren got the start and he completed 15 of 25 passes for 118 yards, one touchdown and a pick.

The Wolverines lost 18 starters after the 2023 season, so a step back is expected.

Michigan’s defense is capable, but I don’t think this Wolverines’ offense can keep up. Texas should win comfortably, even in The Big House.

Best Bet: Texas -7.5 (+100 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Ole Miss vs. Middle Tennessee

Ole Miss dropped 76 against Furman in Week 1, while Middle Tennessee dropped 32 against Tennessee Tech. However, Middle Tennessee allowed 25 points to the FCS program.

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 22 of 27 passes for 418 yards and five touchdowns. Middle Tennessee allowed 341 yards to Tennessee Tech, including 274 passing yards.

Middle Tennessee should put up some points against the Ole Miss reserves after Ole Miss takes a big enough lead and at 62.5 points, I’m somewhat confident Ole Miss could score 63 points on their own.

Take the over here.

Best Bet: Over 62.5 Points (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Penn State vs. Bowling Green

Penn State looked fantastic in Week 1, beating West Virginia 34-12. Furthermore, quarterback Drew Allar was excellent, completing 11 of 17 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns. He completed two passes of 20+ yards downfield for more than 70 yards and a score. Harrison Wallace III went for over 100 yards and had the deep passing touchdown from Allar.

Additionally, running back Nicholas Singleton went for over 100 yards and a score.

This new offense under new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki looked phenomenal, and now they’ll take on Bowling Green in their home opener.

Bowling Green beat up on Fordham in Week 1, including running back Terion Stewart rushing for over 160 yards and three scores.

However, Penn State allowed just 85 total rushing yards in Week 1 and held opponents to 75 rushing yards per game in 2023, which was the best in the nation.

Look for Penn State to air the ball out and hold Stewart in check, allowing them to cover this number.

Best Bet: Penn State -35 (-108 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
