Soniqs slips by Petrichor Road to win PUBG Esports World Cup

Soniqs rallied past Petrichor Road in the grand finals of the PUBG Esports World Cup 2024 on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Soniqs closed the five-day tournament with 113 points (53 placement points and 60 kill points), just enough to beat out Petrichor Road (109 points), which was the last of 16 teams to qualify for the grand finals.

FaZe Clan took third with 104 points, while TSM finished fourth with 98.

Sunday’s slate featured the final six of the grand finals’ 12 rounds.

Soniqs started strong on Sunday, racking up 35 points across the day’s first two rounds, but faltered in the middle sets.

Petrichor Road rallied to take a three-point lead entering Round 11 before Soniqs outscored the runners-up 25-18 over the final two frames.

Soniqs earned $700,000 for first place, plus 1,000 Esports World Cup club points and 300 PGS points.

The tournament’s MVP honors went to Pedro “sparkingg” Ribeiro of TSM. The Brazilian won a $50,000 bonus.

Twenty-four teams competed in the event, part of the Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Sixteen teams emerged from the group stage, while the other eight were eliminated.

All Gamers Global paced all teams with 107 points in group play, 11 more than second-place TSM, and finished ninth overall in the tournament.
