Monday July 8 Best Sports Betting Picks & Predictions For MLB Slate & Soccer Bets

With a 2-for-2 success rate on picks in the international soccer tournaments last Monday, we must search elsewhere for some footie gems today as Copa America and Euro 2024 break until midweek semifinals.

It’s not a particularly great slate of games on tap in the MLB; there’s no WNBA action and Wimbledon gets going a little too early for most same-day stateside picks. As a result, we’ll go to Scandinavian soccer for our final pick of the day.

Colorado Rockies at Cincinnati Reds

You probably already know, but the Rockies are pretty bad. That’s especially true on the road, where they have 12 wins all season. However, they are coming off a series victory over the Royals, and the Reds have only won three of their last 12 home games.

I still think Cincy is the pick, and we get a little more value with them, perhaps because of the recent form for both teams.

Colorado starter Ryan Feltner (1-7, 5.60) gave up eight runs on 10 hits in a 13-3 home loss to the Reds in early June, and while the air isn’t as thin in Ohio, I think Cincinnati will be able to get to Felton once again in what should be a get-right series for a team that can’t afford to continue to fall back in the NL Central race.

Also helping our cause is the fact that Reds starter Andrew Abbott has allowed fewer than five hits in his last four outings. However, we just have to hope his teammates give him enough help that we aren’t sweating the Cincinnati bullpen, a unit that scared me away from -2.5 and the plus money.

Cincinnati Reds -1.5 (-130 at DraftKings)

Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks

Veteran hurler Chris Sale (11-3, 2.71) is having a phenomenal bounce-back campaign in his first year with the Braves and is deserving of an eighth All-Star selection.

He will get two starts before the break, the first coming against an Arizona team sitting right at .500 and throwing new call-up Yilber Diaz out on the mound for this game.

The Diamondbacks offense has been as scorching as the desert temperatures of late, scoring 52 runs in the first six games of July as they took road divisional series against both the Dodgers and Padres.

They should be coming home a confident team into this one, and Sale is due for a down outing at some point, you’d have to think.

IFK Norrkoping vs. Djurgardens IF

As you might expect, the Swedes play their domestic soccer during the time of the year when there isn’t snow on the ground. So, we have some summer action from the Allsvenskan, their top league, today as they return after a month-long break for Euro 2024, even though the Swedish national team didn’t qualify for the tournament.

Norrkoping have been brutal this season, sitting 15th of 16 teams just over a third of the way through the campaign. Meanwhile, Djurgardens are in third place and challenging for a spot in Europe, even though a championship may be out of the question as they currently sit 10 points behind dominant leader Malmo.

Love the visitors in this one to extend their fine form. Add the clean sheet win at +120 if you like as well.
