HEROIC, OG start perfectly at Dota’s Elite League Season 2

HEROIC, OG, Shopify Rebellion and Team Liquid all registered two wins on Thursday as the Elite League Season 2 got underway in Lima, Peru.

The initial group stage of the $800,000 Dota 2 event uses the Swiss system for all 16 teams, with best-of-three matches. The top eight teams advance to the second group stage, with the remaining teams eliminated.

The second phase, which runs Sunday through Wednesday, will have the remaining eight teams play a round robin of best-of-two matches. The top four teams move into the playoffs’ upper bracket, while the lower four teams head to the playoffs’ lower bracket.

The double-elimination playoffs run Aug. 2-4, with all matches best-of-three until the best-of-five final. The winning side will receive $240,000, and the runner-up will get $120,000.

On Thursday, OG won both of their matches 2-0. They topped Apex Genesis in 33 minutes on green and 28 minutes on red, then defeated Yellow Submarine in 24 minutes on green and 21 minutes on red.

OG got an average kill-death-assist ratio 12.5/2.5/12.5 from Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov vs. Apex Genesis. Bolivia’s Adrian “Wisper” Dobles led OG against Yellow Submarine at 11.5/0.5/11.0.

HEROIC swept Cuyes Esports 2-0, winning in 25 minutes and 27 minutes, both on red. Peru’s Hector “K1” Rodriguez wound up at 10/2/3 for HEROIC.

HEROIC then handled Execration 2-0, prevailing in 46 minutes on red and 41 minutes on green. Brazil’s Joao Gabriel “4nalog” Giannini Santos was the star for HEROIC at 12/4/19.

Shopify Rebellion dumped FUSION 2-0, rolling in 35 minutes on red and 24 minutes on green. The Philippines’ Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer recorded a 12.0/1.5/13.0 K-D-A ratio for Shopify Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion then put together another sweep, getting past MOUZ in 22 minutes on green and 30 minutes on red. Yopaj dominated again at 15/0/9.

Liquid edged Infinity 2-1, winning in 25 minutes on green, losing in 30 minutes on red, then winning in 35 minutes on red. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu topped Liquid at 7.0/1.3/5.0.

Liquid then produced another 2-1 victory, this time against 1win. After Liquid won in 57 minutes on green, 1win equalized in 24 minutes on red. Liquid took the decisive third map in 35 minutes on red. miCKe finished at 4.7/4.3/7.3 in the victory.
